New Features in Word Splash Pro 4

1. MOVE WORDS

You can now move and rotate words manually. You can use this to arrange every word in your puzzle, or to simply move a single word to a new location in the automatically generated puzzle. It is flexible enought to allow you to switch the direction the word is pointing (forward or backwards) and to arrange the words so that more intersect.

2. DAILY HELPFUL HINTS

This feature will display a new helpful hint each time the software starts. The hints start off as simple pointers for the new user, but later start discussing the more advanced features available. If you wish, you can simply flip through them all yourself, or turn the feature off and explore totally on your own.

3. STARTING PARAMETERS

You can now launch Word Splash Pro with parameters. That means you could type "WSPLASH WINTER.WSP" and have the program start with the puzzle loaded. You can also use the saved masks, word lists, templates and text files. In the Windows explorer/file manager you can drag and drop files onto the Word Splash icon to have them load with the program.

4. PUBLISH HTML

This feature can be used to create an HTML document from your puzzle. The HTML document can then be placed on a web site so people viewing your site can print and play your puzzles. See the Samples page for examples.

5. EXPANDED HELP

A new help topic describes how to create many different types of search puzzles. This section can be used in conjunction with the many sample puzzles (which will display creation notes when loaded) to learn how to create various puzzle types.

6. REMOVED EUROPEAN DATE WARNING

The mildly annoying warning message on systems using European date formats has been corrected.

7. MODIFIED INITIAL CAPS FEATURE

The Initial Caps case conversion function which is used to capitalize all words in your word list has been modified to handle apostrophes. (Steve's instead of Steve'S).

8. NOW SAVE PAGE ORIENTATION

The page orientation used will now be saved with a puzzle.

9. ENTERED CHARACTERS NOISE FILL

Word Splash Pro now has three forms of noise filling. (Noise is the non-word characters used in a puzzle.) Along with random alphabetic characters, and partial word fill, you can now choose Entered Characters. This allows you to specify a string of characters from which the random noise will be pulled. You can save these lists to disk for repeated use.

10. COLUMN CONTROL

You can now override the automatic calculation of the number of columns used for the printed word list and specify the number yourself.

11. NOISE MODE SHOWS WORDS

When in the noise review mode, you can now see the actual words and where they were placed. This will allow you to manuall change the noise to make your puzzle more or less difficult.

12. IMPROVED DUPLICATE WORD CHECKING LOGIC

When generating a puzzle Word Splash will now regenerate the puzzle automatically if it finds a duplicate word in the puzzle grid. Past versions would just warn you.

13. PLAYER MULTI-MEDIA PLUG-INS

The puzzle player now has multi-media plug-ins which add fun graphics and sound when you complete a puzzle. The standard player comes with two, but more will be available in the future as free downloads.

14. PLAYER TEXT WINDOW CAN STAY OPEN

The View Text Window can now be left open when playing a puzzle with the puzzle player. This makes it easier to solve Question & Answer puzzles.

15. NUMBER OF COPIES TO PRINT

When printing a puzzle you may now set the number of copies to print.
